The Peel Regional Board of Approved Basketball Officials (PRBABO) is pleased to offer a $1,000.00 scholarship to both a black male and female basketball player who is graduating from a Peel Regional High School and is registered to attend a post-secondary educational program.
The namesake of the bursary, Stan Crowley, was a founding member of PRBABO. Stan was not only an elite basketball official, but he was also a highly ranking member of the CFL officiating organization. Stan Crowley was a black man that broke many barriers for young black officials, athletes and students. Stan’s daughter, Nadine Crowley, said this about her Dad’s bursary, “My dad would be so very happy about this as he dedicated a lot of his life and free time to working with youth and supporting those who needed a boost”.
Stan Crowley passed away in 2020 at the age of 92. In a small way, this bursary helps his legacy live on.
Bursary Criteria:
- a black male/female basketball player graduating from a secondary school in Peel (actively playing on a varsity high school team)
- registered/accepted admission to a post-secondary education
- has displayed dedication to sport and academics
